Cz P10 M - The CZ P10 M pistol will be released in Europe in 2019, followed by the US in 2020. The US market has been polarized and it has become one of those concepts that people either love or hate. What's so controversial about the CZ P10 M, you ask? This is partially true, the manual slide release, will not be confused with the stop slide in this case, as it still locks the slide back after the last round has been fired. Let's take a look at the pros and cons of this concept, as well as how the CZ P10 M feels, conceals, and shoots.
I am very interested in trying the CZ P10 M, especially because of the controversy surrounding the lack of one feature, the slide release. I have been shooting handguns for decades, and I find it hard to believe that one small feature will sink this gun or blow someone's heart. I'm sure I can handle a less traditional application of armor, more in a bit.
Cz P10 M
Unholstering CZ P10 M, it felt comfortable in the hand and the size manages to shoot and conceal caliber 9x19mm. The P10 M feels good in the hand, and while it retains the same texture theme as its sibling, the P10 F, it's a little tamer and less aggressive in the hand and on the hip. The CZ P10 line has become a popular choice in the percussion market, and I'm glad to see that CZ doesn't go overboard when it comes to raising the slide height above the Model M shooting arm. When handling micro-compact and sub-compact pistols, I always check that it doesn't bite me because of the connection, and the P10 M should not be a problem unless the shooter has large hands. I have medium hands, so I think the leaf clearance is enough room that shooters with larger hands shouldn't bite.

Field cleaning the P10 M is quite intuitive, but make sure that the three check the magazine is out and the chamber is empty, as the trigger must be pulled to clear the slide. You can use the edge of the magazine to release the takedown pin on the right side of the pistol. The trigger pin was stiff so I used a pocket knife to hold it with my finger. Once the slide is off, you can remove the recoil spring and rod, then the barrel.
UPDATE: It was previously reported that the magazine release could be reversed, but CZ says it will not.
CZ P10 M is built for concealment and its size can be compared to SIG P365 or Glock 43. Other than running shorts, which I have written about here and here on TFB, I have found that it is a bit big to carry the pocket. A hidden cargo corner. I've taken the P10 M on several runs and it hasn't hindered my stride or pulled my shorts down. Since there is no slide release, I decided to take advantage of the sliding side pistol, I made a minimalist guard holster / trigger out of Kydex. I wear the P10 M at 4 o'clock, which I like. I carry a Glock 22/27 in a minimalist holster, which is usually fine, but sometimes the sight and slide interfere with the skin, but the P10 M fits perfectly and is naturally also hidden without printing.
I was a little concerned about how the slide serrations would interact with the love handles, but I didn't notice them. To be honest, the P10 M is so comfortable to carry with a belt-mounted holster, I'll forget that I haven't been carrying a firearm every day for years.

Another great feature of the CZ P10 M is the three-dot, photoluminescent sights. The quick charge of the LED flashlight can last for hours, so by carrying it in a minimalist holster, I can quickly charge it with the least amount of light on the gun. Photoluminescence CZ pistol sight (also seen on the SP-01 Phantom I reviewed) seems to be the perfect middle ground between the night sight and the standard, black or three-point standard sight system.
This is a 6 second light from the P10 M flash in a dark area after 3 hours from a 10 second charge. This exposure is about the same as my eyes, enough to give you a good look if you're trying to stay stealthy but be prepared.
Sights are acquired quickly and recoil is easily controlled. Like the CZ P10 F Competition Ready model I reviewed, the magazine ejects well, the P10 M requires no magazine pull.
One aspect of the internal slide stop is that it can be actuated with the fingers, but holding the frame with one hand and retracting the slide with the other is a two-handed job. Then, with your hand holding the slide, insert your finger into the ejection port and pull up on the slide stop on the left side of the magazine. I can see this method being used more in training if the instructor needs a slide to be opened in front of a live fire and the user log is loaded.
Tested: Cz's P 10 Micro
The P10 M's trigger isn't great, but it's not bad either. There is a slight lift and then it stops, but for swimming, there is a pull of about a quarter of an inch that feels spongy. It doesn't take long to get used to it, and I think it's somewhere between a terrible trigger and a great trigger. Because of what is built P10 M, I do not want to complain about the trigger because there is not much time for the snob trigger in the situation of life and death and I can shoot at 30 meters. P10M is easy.
The CZ P10 M went through everything I threw at it, from low steel FMJs, to brass cases, and most importantly, defensive ammo. I ran through Hornady's American Handgunner and Critical Defense, as well as several JHP Sierras, which I had never tried before. The P10 M was reliable in all my tests.
The CZ P10 M pistol can go a bit against the grain compared to other modern pistols.
Turn the release-turn stop lever, however, for what purpose, as I believe indicated by the use of a single trigger guard cover. Wearing the P10 M on my skin, it felt comfortable while walking, standing, sitting, and driving for hours. For experienced shooters, the internal slide stop control may take some practice, but I think anyone buying this pistol as their first pistol will find it easy to pick up.
For Those Who Want A Single Stack Micro Cz P 10
Since the CZ P10 M is designed for concealed carry, I made sure my wife operated the slide. They can do it, but working with dual springs is difficult, so anyone with hand or arm strength issues will want to try this before buying.
CZ has done well with this pistol and they know that it may not pull everyone's trigger, but it is accessible to everyone who wants to carry the slimmest 9mm. You can check out CZ's dedicated webpage for the P10 M here or check out the entire product line at CZ-USA.com. The P10 M has an MSRP of $505.
