Army Asu Ribbon Placement - Few things in the military bring more pride and honor than awards and medals for gallantry, gallantry, or just good work. Although the Army encourages soldiers to display their ribbons and medals, there are specific guidelines on what to wear on their Army Service Uniform (ASU). These guidelines are specifically set forth in Chapter 29 of Army Regulation 670-1, which governs all military uniforms worn.

Pin the ribbon holder centered 1/8 inch above the left breast pocket on the ASU coat on men's uniforms. Women should place the hanger on the left side of the coat and the right side of the uniform with the nameplate centered. Note that minor body type adjustments are allowed for women.
Place the lowest number of medals first on the left chest of the coat above the left breast pocket for men and in the center of the jacket itself for women. Medals may be arranged in more than one row as needed, but no row may have more medals than the row below and must be 1/8 inch apart from the row above or below.
Make sure the medals in each row do not overlap. Upper row medals may hang over lower row medals, but all medals must be visible. The exact number of medals in each row depends on the size of the coat and the number of medals worn.

Badge to wear with your outfit of the day. Sort the special badges according to the rules of AR 670-1, then include all other badges in order of priority. Specialty badges include marksmanship, combat and special skills, reconnaissance, and foreign badges.

Wear the Combat Service Identification Badge (CSIB) on Army Service Dress Blue, Class A, Army Service Dress Class B, or Former Blue Uniform. Do not wear this badge on an ACU or Army Green uniform. (a) Class A uniform shall consist of coat, uniform pants/trousers, green short-sleeved blouse/shirt, collar tab/tie, cap, shoes, black socks, mesh belt black, nameplate, rank, school insignia, star of honor, and all official badges, lanyards, medals, ribbons, and tabs.
(b) Female cadets may wear a uniform skirt instead of pants with the Class A uniform. This skirt is not issued, but can be purchased in coordination with JROTC Department personnel. Note: Required hem length is knee length.
(c) The uniform cap is worn for all inspections, parades and reviews, all leadership labs and other select occasions.
(d) A plain white Oxford dress shirt and black bow tie worn with a Class A uniform is formal dress for appropriate formal activities, such as a military ball.

(a) Class B uniform consists of green blouse/shirt with short sleeves, uniform pants/trousers, shoes, black socks, black canvas belt, nameplate , a rank, a star of honor, a school crest. All official ribbons and tabs as well as badges are optional to wear unless otherwise specified to be worn.
(c) Black army sweater with nameplate, school insignia and rank may be worn with Class B uniform. This sweater is not issued, but may be purchased in coordination with JROTC department. If you don't have a military sweater, you can wear a uniform CDH sweater instead of a military sweater.
(3) Class C Uniform: Both male and female cadets participating in the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) will be issued a camouflaged Army Combat Uniform (ACU). This uniform includes coat, pants, hat, t-shirt, belt, socks, shoes and badges.
(4) Fitness Uniforms (PT): Sports uniforms aren't the problem. When this uniform is specified, cadets will wear their own sports attire consisting of a sweatshirt or t-shirt, sweatpants or shorts, and non-marking tennis shoes, e.g. , Cadet Challenge, Organized Athletics, Dodgeball and Physical Training.

(1) Proper placement of badges, awards, and other uniform items is shown in Figures 1 through 10.
(2) Cadets are authorized to wear a distinctive shoulder strap on Class A and Class B uniforms to identify their status as active members of JROTC extracurricular organizations. Past members may wear the ribbon and tab assigned to that organization, but not the lanyard. Only one lanyard will be worn on the right shoulder with the exception of the National Honor Society lanyard which is worn on the left shoulder only. Crack drill team and colored guard lanyards are worn on the right shoulder for uniformity during performance.
