(2) Cadets are authorized to wear distinctive shoulder cords on Class A and Class B uniforms to recognize their status as active members of JROTC joint training organizations. Past members may wear the ribbon and badge issued for that organization, but not the cord. Single ribbons are worn on the right shoulder, except for the National Honor Society ribbon, which is worn on the left shoulder. Crack Drill Team and Color Guard cords are worn on the right shoulder for consistency during performance. Do not wear more than two wires on each shoulder. Permitted wiring:

A. GENERAL. Achievements are rewarded with badges, medals and ribbons. All awards and decorations must be declared with the order before being worn. A ribbon and medal representing the same award cannot be worn at the same time. The awards and decorations listed here are the only awards permitted to be worn on cadet uniform.

B. Tapes. Male cadets wear a ribbon above the left pocket and 1/8 inch above the pocket on the shirt/coat. Female cadets wear ribbons above the horizontal line that is the same as the first button and bottom of the blouse/coat. The ribbons are arranged in three rows from right to left and top to bottom (see Figure 7-10).

Class A and Class B clothing can have up to three fire marks. Women wear breast badges 1/4 inch below the ribbons. Men wear badges 1/8 inch below the top of the left pocket flap. A single mark is placed in the middle. The two marks are centered and spaced at least 1 inch apart. Three marks are placed in the middle and equally spaced. Only the highest qualification badge for each sponsoring organization will be worn, for example, the cadet will not wear either the Air Rifle Specialist Qualification Badge or the Marksman Air Rifle Qualification Badge (see Figure 7-10). Permitted firing marks in order of priority:

Medals are worn from right to left and top to bottom in order of preference by the wearer. Female cadets wear medals 1/4 inch below the ribbons or 1/8 inch below the rank.

Signs. Male cadets wear medals 1/8 inch below the top of the left pocket, or 1/8 inch below the bottom of the left pocket if rank insignia are worn. Medals are worn in two or more rows. If only one medal is worn, it may be worn alongside one or two leftmost badges. The number of medals worn in each row depends on the size of the coat. The second and subsequent series of medals shall not contain more medals than the above. For example, if the first row has five medals, the second row must have five or fewer medals. Each row of medals is placed as high as possible below the row above. The awards, which are established by medals in the following order, are as follows:

Criteria for the above awards are distributed as an appendix to the handbook or can be found online on the JROTC page on the CDH website. The specifications and criteria are also part of the “Wear the Uniform” section presented in LET-1.

Organization loops are worn 1/8 inch apart on the right side of Class A and Class B uniforms. Men wear collars in the middle of the pocket between the bottom of the pocket and the bottom of the pocket (Figures 7 and 8). Women wear earrings placed in the center of the seam attached between the second and third buttons (Figures 9 and 10). Badges will be awarded after the season is over. The highest badge is worn at the top in the following order of priority:

A. GENERAL. The Cretin-Derham Hall Cadet Corps places great importance on maintaining standards of dress and appearance. The appearance and the way the members of the organization dress indicate discipline and morale throughout the organization. An exemplary appearance is always a necessary standard for every cadet. Good example and good obedience are important qualities of a leader. Virtually all JROTC uniform and grooming standards follow the CDH standards listed in the Student Handbook for all students. Below are the minimum acceptable appearance standards for each cadet.

(1) pants/trousers. Military and school pants/trousers will be clean, pressed and properly fitted. When the waistband is at the hip line, the pant/trouser length is such that it touches the shoelaces with only a "break" at the front crease of the hem. The heel rises 1 inch off the ground. Left back pocket tab is buttoned.

(2) Blouses/dresses. Military and school shirts/dresses are freshly washed and pressed. The top collar button is buttoned when wearing a tie or tie. Tie or neck tie is required when wearing extra long sleeve blouse/shirt. The blouse/shirt tail may be fully tucked into the pants/trousers and the belt and belt buckles may be visible. Do not wear them "turned down" or wear a loose blouse over the belt. The JROTC rank insignia will be properly placed on the shoulder insignia of the blouse/shirt. The pockets are buttoned, and a nameplate with the Star of Honor and the school badge is worn on the right side. All authorized ribbons are worn on the left in order of priority. Organization badges are worn on the right in order of priority (Figures 8 and 10).

(3) Shoes. Only issued shoes are worn with the JROTC uniform. Shoes are cleaned to remove dirt, dust and stains. The upper surface of the shoe can be cleaned with glass cleaner (Windex) and the edges of the sole can be painted with a black border. The lace is tied.

(5) Belt and buckle. A black mesh belt with a brass buckle is always worn with pants/trousers. The belt loop goes to the left of the buckle for boys and to the right for girls. The buckle is flared and aligned with the "concert line" (a straight line formed by the edge of the blouse/dress, the edge of the buckle against the belt buckle, and the zipper closure of the pants/trousers).

(6) Undershirt. The only undershirt that can be worn with the JROTC uniform is a plain white shirt. No different colored shirts, shirts with logos, slogans or colorful designs, or V-neck shirts.

(7) Neck loop/tie. Black neck pin/tie Class A uniform or extra long sleeve shirt/dress is worn at all times.
